Personal Statement

Softball has always been a part of my life. From the first time I played catch with my dad in the backyard with a wiffle ball, softball has always been a part of me. Playing softball has greatly impacted my character and shaped me into the person I am today. As a student, leader, kingdom worker, and many more, softball has influenced my life in a positive way.

As a student, I am in the class of 2020. I have a 3.8 GPA while taking advanced courses in math and science. I am always looking to do things the right way and learn the material thoroughly.  I work hard in my studies before anything else. Having good grades has always been a goal that I've kept with me.  Aside from letter grades, as a student, I would say that I've been a good role model for other student athletes. My priority has always been my grades and my character before anything else. Along with having good grades, I am also a co-president for Student Council, a leader for  Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and a member of National Honor Society. I also play an active role in my church (First Christian Church Champaign). I am a Junior High 7th Grade Girls Small Group Leader as well as a part of the High School Ministry Leadership Team which is commonly referred to as "Refine". Being involved in my school and community has taught me to have good time management skills along with being mentally tough. I have played an active role in my school by being appointed by other class members to help design and organize various artistic projects for various events. Playing an active role in my school represents my role on the field.

As I mentioned above, I am a leader in many of my activities that I am involved in in my school and community. This directly reflects who I am on the field as a player. I am a strong leader on the field, being vocal and loud with passion for the game. In softball, I am a 2 year varsity member of my high school team. This past year, my sophomore year, I obtained a starting spot as well as the number two hitter throughout the entire season. I led the team in RBIs (46)  , home runs (5), as well as a .452 batting average. Because of my achievements at the plate, I was given the Silver Slugger Award. I was also given the Rocket Award. The recipient of this award was determined by team vote. It reflects who was a leader on the team and who was just an overall team player. Lastly, I was named All Conference Honorable Mention. These achievements reflect on the amount of time and effort I put in to play my best game possible. Aside from my high school team, I play for the Mattoon Pride 16u Orange travel team.

As a person, something that has always kept me grounded was my faith. I have a passion for serving the Kingdom and serving others. My faith has kept me grounded throughout my life and keeps me intact with being a great player, student, and overall individual.

All of my roles in my school and church reflect to why I am an admirable prospect for the class of 2020. After high school, I want to play college softball at the highest level I can. I would like to study in the field of missionary studies or graphic design/communications. I am looking for a university that would fit my desired majors and give me the opportunity to play softball at the next level. All of the things that make me who I am root back to the person I am on the field. I would be a great 2020 recruit to have in your program. Thank you for your time.
