My name is Aubry Norris and I will be a senior this fall at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. Softball has been a part of my life for almost 10 years, and my goal is to continue playing at the collegiate level. I come from a family of great athletes. Both my dad and grandpa were college athletes and despite their height (both around 5’8”), they often outperformed taller athletes. My grandpa is in the Butler University Hall of Fame for basketball and my dad competed in long jump at Indiana University. He continues to play competitive men’s softball. This drove my desire to also play sports and utilize my God-given talents of speed and power. Being a late bloomer myself, my height disadvantage was something I had to overcome in order to reach my full potential. My goal has always been to work hard to grow my skills, both physically and mentally. A recent success of mine was leading performance metrics in multiple categories for female athletes at my high school of over 5,200 students. I currently play outfield and middle infield. My coaches have placed me in a variety of positions and I am always happy to play wherever they need me. Being a part of a team has helped me understand the importance of teamwork, leadership, and friendship. I’m very supportive of my teammates and am always there to encourage them when they get down. I have a solid code of personal ethics and a Christian faith upbringing that influences my decisions. Balancing softball, competitive show choir, school, church, and family has taught me important time management skills while striving for excellence in all that I do. In academics, I have maintained a GPA over 3.7 every year so far, and have taken multiple advanced classes towards my Honors diploma. I am undecided on a major; however, I have interests in physical therapy and animal rehabilitation. I would like to attend a college that offers excellent academics and a great softball program. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement! I believe I would be a great asset to your team!
