Abbie Hlas '20 Recruiting Profile

I first fell in love with softball when I was a little girl and dreamed of playing in college. I continue to play and my love for the game has only grown. Now, I am ready to make my dreams a reality. Although primarily a pitcher and shortstop, I am interested in being recruited as an athlete. I have played EVERY position in a a game and am open to assisting the team in whatever capacity is needed.

As an athlete and a team leader, I make an effort to stay positive and encourage my teammates not only when it is easy but also when things get tough. Additional traits that make me a good team leader include the following:

1. I am a hard worker (actions speak louder than words).
2. I am mentally tough and determined.
3. I am teachable.
4. I thrive under pressure.
5. I have a good and steady demeanor.

In addition to softball, I also play varsity basketball and volleyball for my high school teams. Furthermore, I am a good student, maintaining a high GPA and am involved in activities outside of athletics (youth group, FCA, etc.).

I wish to attend a college where I can be successful in the classroom and on the field. I want to be challenged and pushed to my full potential. I want to set an example to others of how hard work pays off.  And I want to make my community, family, and myself proud.
