Personal Statement
I am a hard working athlete and plays four sports. I have participated in volleyball, basketball, track and softball while in high school but during my junior year (this year) I have decided to play football. I am working on learning the offensive and defensive line. I chose to play football to work on my leg strength to push off the mound for softball and to get stronger and meaner overall. I am trying to challenge myself to get more physical for basketball and use the workouts in football to help with track and softball. I have a pitching coach that I see every week unless I am at a club softball tournament. I play for the Midwest Slammers out of Council Bluffs, Iowa who is coached by Jeff Martinez. Since I hit the sixth grade, I have logged all the hours I pitch during the off season and push myself to try and pitch more each year. I have found that my catchers are just as busy as I am so my father and I built a tire stand so that I can pitch at the tire if someone can not catch for me. I want to be the number one varsity pitcher for Glenwood so I know I will have to keep pushing myself because there is another player that wants my spot. I hit 9 homeruns and 33 RBI's but I am not satisfied with this and have already started breaking down my batting style and working on improving my swing with my batting coach.
I strongly believe in never saying anything bad about another player or your coach. As teammates, we should encourage each other and be positive role models for our teammates and younger athletes in our community. I am currently working with three young ladies that want to become better pitchers but do not have access to a coach. I live in a smaller town so I try and do a few things with my friends but I spend a lot of my free time at home because a lot of students participate in things they should not do and when I have a night off, it's really nice to be home.
