Katey Havens '11 Recruiting Profile

I will be playing in College Exposure Tournaments in Kansas City on the weekend of October 22-24. I am 5'6" infielder and approximately 135 lbs. Our Team won the MO-KAN Division A Championship last weekend. My High School batting average this year was .372 and slugging percentage of .628, with 2 strikeouts all season in high school. I made first Team All-Conference, and led the conference in triples, and was third in doubles hit. I will be playing Fall Ball with the Central Iowa Outlaws with games yet in Kansas City Mo. I am excited with the amount I am learning, and how well I feel I am playing against this better caliber of softball player. Hopefully it will get me better prepared for college ball. I have a good bat, throw over the top with excellent ball speed and reaction time. My running times are 3.1 and 13.2, but I know those could be improved with work and coaching assistance. I work very hard to improve myself, and am open to trying new or different approaches to improve my game skills. I also like to help and support other players to improve. I was co-captain of 2010 HS Softball and Bowling Teams. I have grown up on family farm, and have been active in 4-H, FFA, and working with livestock. I understand work ethic and dedication. I have also been involved in many community volunteer activities. I would like to double-major in business and Secondary Education. A minor in physical education/coaching would be an option. Education is the most important aspect of my college career, but I am loking for a good school where I could play softball, because I love the sport. My hope would be to get some playing time my Freshman year. For location, a school up to 10 hours from home would be ideal, but I am willing to go further for the opportunity to play for a team and school that is the right fit for me.
