Personal Statement
I work hard both off the field and on. I donate my time contributing to my local nursing home where I have been an activities rep. I also volunteer helping fine tune youth girls with their softball skills and talents by teaching them my experiences and work habits. As a softball player, I am an aggressive base runner and batter at the plate. Yet I am very patient when need be and have opted to find the way to get on base when the situation deems necessary. Though I receive many compliments from teammates, officials, opponents and family, what is most important is my ability to change, adapt and improve. I have gone from a starting pitching role to more of a starting shortstop. In 2012, I was a 15 time homerun hitter from April to July. In 2013, I have become more rounded to playing a short game and improving my speed with switch hitting and sacrifice bunting. As I begin my 2015 spring athletic year I look forward to bringing hope to my community and proof to myself that strong work ethics pays off no matter what your level of skill may be. I am currently 3 homeruns short of tying the Kansas State High School homerun career record of 24. IN 2014 I garnered 10 HRs in the spring and 7 more in the summer earning me a .650 non conference batting average and .775 summer batting average. Every athlete has room for improvement and by no means should an individual take anything for granted.
I have grown up wanting to live, eat, sleep and dream softball. I know that playing softball will give me the opportunity to make my dreams of becoming either a mathematician or a physician's assistant a reality. And even if it has come more naturally for myself to play the sport I truly enjoy sharing my experiences with other girls around me. For me, softball has been life. I know and feel that at times games are difficult but it takes perseverance, dedication and an enormous amount of hard work yet desire to not give up. Life is softball.
