Personal Statement

My name is Haly Guitreau, I am a freshman at Enterprise State Community College in Enterprise, Alabama.  I played both basketball and softball for my high school. I have ran track in my earlier high school years, I gave it up when I realized that my heart was in the game of softball.  I am about five foot and five inches tall and wiegh 130 pounds.  I was the point guard for the varsity basketball team and the varsity catcher for our softball team.  I took five college course from Southeastern Louisiana University during my senior year; Biology 151, Algebra 161, Trig 162, Communications 211, and English 101.
During senior year, I recieved All-District, All-Parish, All-State, and were State Runner Up in Class C.  As a junior, I received All-District and Most improved Player.  I gained a lot of insight on the player i dream to be; each game I reached my goal of not letting a ball hit the back stop nor letting the opposing team steal any bases. Our team also was lucky enough to reach the Class B State tournament; but unfortunately, we lost out in the quarter finals to our rival, Holden.  My sophmore year, I also received All-District.
If I was chosen to be on a college softball team, i would have so much to offer.  For example, I was Maurepas' team captain my junior and senior year.  I always show up before practice to make sure everything is ready to go; for instance, behind the plate and batters boxes were raked.  I am also the last person to leave the field; some days I stay after to get extra work in.  I am always ready to start, I hustle on and off the field and always play my heart out at every play.  I encourage my teammates to work hard and acknowledge their accomplishments.  It has always been my dream to play softball further than high school.  As a little girl I would watch all of the older softball players and learn from them, they were my motivators, as well as my parents and teammates.  I do my best to not let my teammates down or give up on them. I am willing to attend any college that accepts my goals and leadership.
Personally I would prefer to attend a college close to home; in other words, in-state or a state close to Louisiana.  I am looking for a small or big, home-like school that makes me feel welcome with a division that is competitive and has many acheivements.
Attending college will be stressful on my parents, we will need financial help.  This is why I am hoping to receive a scholarship to the college I choose to attend, as well as some smaller scholarships.
I plan on majoring in Early Childhood Education, but more of middle school math.  Ever sense I was little I have said that I was going to be a teacher.  As I fell more inlove with softball, my plan changed only a tiny bit, I would love to be a softball coach.  Being a coach would allow me to help other young girls to become a better softball player and teammate.
Before my dream of becoming a teacher and coach happens, I have to attend college.  No matter if I play college softball or not, I plan on attending a local college.  If I so happen to receive an athletic scholarship, my goal would to play as a freshman, play at the highest level I am able to play, and better my self as well as the team I will play for.
