Personal Statement
At age 9 I started playing softball and immediately fell in love with the sport. I made the All-stars team all four years of little league. In junior high, I decided I wanted to become the best pitcher I could be so I started taking pitching lessons from two coaches (Bob Mercer who coaches for 9 months and Tayla Trask who coaches the other 3). In junior high I pitched two no-hitters. With the completion of my first 3 years of high school, I have pitched a perfect game, 5 no-hitters, 2 one-hitters and 4 shut-outs.
I have been told by my coaches since I started playing sports that I was a joy to work with because of how coachable I am. I am always looking to improve and better myself as well as my teammates. In practice, I push not only myself, but my teammates as well. In addition to softball, I play basketball and field hockey so I can maintain my athletic condition. I am a captain and leader in these two sports as well earning achievements that include the Coaches Awards. I lead by example and pick my teammates up when they're down. I perform very well under pressure. My pitching coach focuses mainly on the mental aspect of softball and he pushes me to focus on that as well so that I don't buckle under pressure.
I put 100% into everything I do whether it be in the classroom, in softball, or in another sport. Academically, I have already taken two college classes online with the Academ-e program at the University of Maine while maintaining a 4.0 in my regular high school classes. I strive to challenge myself in everything I do and consequently have achieved the rank of second in my class. I will do whatever it takes to be a successful student and softball player in college.
