Hayden Mentzer '22 Recruiting Profile

I am passionate, competitive, and hard-working 2022 student-athlete at Boonsboro High School in Boonsboro, Maryland. I am actually in a dual enrollment program with Hagerstown Community College, so I will earn my Associate's degree by the time I graduate high school. This will help me to prepare for my transition to a four-year university, preferably on the east coast, no farther north than Maryland.  My dad unexpectedly passed away in January of 2018 and it tremendously changed the lives of my family and I. Therefore, I have faced and dealt with adversity, and have learned to be more independent and responsible. I have played softball since I was 5, travel softball since I was 8, and have gained a lot of experience and strategic knowledge over the years. As well as playing softball, I have also played 2 years of JV volleyball, 2 years of varsity indoor track and field, and 1 year of outdoor track and field when I was dual-sporting my spring season. During my track seasons, I was a pole vaulter and sprinter. I am a very versatile, strong, and well-rounded athlete. I love to be on the field AND in the weight room/gym as I workout multiple times a week and aspire to be a competitive weightlifter someday. I am a positive, faithful, mature, and very organized person who seeks to improve and learn daily.
