Personal Statement
I remember the first time I realized my passion for animals. I was about 11 or 12 years and I saw my brothers friends outside trying to teach a bird how to fly. As they threw the bird up in the air and the bird plummeted back down into the ground I knew the bird was hurt. It crushed me to see what these boys were doing to his poor bird so I went and took the bird from them and took it to my mother because I didn't know what to do to help it. We ended up taking the bird to a wildlife shelter where this very generous lady took the bird in to help it. Ever since that moment I knew I wanted to help animals. And with seeing the hundreds of animals out on the streets today with no home I've always wanted to provide for them a place to go to. In order to achieve my goal in having my own animal shelter and also being my own veterinarian at the shelter I must obtain a degree in biology to go to vet school and possibly minor in business to get some experience in that aspect. Throughout high school I have set myself for success by chosing to take rigorous AP/GT courses. My junior/senior year I even took dual enrollment courses at the Community College of Baltimore County to give myself a head start for college. When it comes to things like Softball, work, or being in a group I feel I have very goo communicate skills and I find being able to work together to be the most essential part of being a team. Without communicating with one another makes it impossible to getting a job done. Although I may have the grades to get into college, softball is something I have always been passionate about and I’ve always dreamed of playing in the collegiate level.
