Personal Statement
I am a hardworking, dedicated softball pitcher. Making softball a priority in my life has been one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. Playing the sport has shaped me to become a determined, hardworking athlete as well as an encouraging and supportive person and teammate to others. Softball has also helped me to be able to focus my energy and efforts in everything that I take on in life, such as school.
I began playing softball when I was six years old and automatically fell in love with the game. I love the battle, the strategy and the competitive feel to win. Through my years of playing softball, I have furthermore realized that I must never lose confidence in myself and always stay secure in who I am as a person and as a student athlete. I have realized through the sport, that I am a committed leader (not a follower).
My academic goal for High School and through college is to maintain a strong GPA while pursuing a degree in business. My goal beyond High School is to attend a college where I can receive a great education and play softball with plans of either becoming an accountant or working in the business field. Even upon graduation, my dream is to continue to make softball a part of my life, through coaching or working with youth players.
I have worked hard to overcome obstacles through my softball career. At times, being able to stay mentally strong was challenging for me. However, gradually through the years, I have gotten stronger mentally and have learned how to handle pressure situations, while not getting down on myself. This is a skill, I feel, will help me through all areas of my life.
Overall, a unique characteristic I have is that I can stand up and become a leader in upsetting or scary moments. I do my best to "pump" people up again or help drive them towards the right path. I feel this is a trait needed to be a successful teammate, as well as a great friend.
