Personal Statement
The sport of softball has been my passion since I was about 4 years old. I really enjoy playing softball because I enjoy the challenge it poses, and the truth of never being good enough, you always have to keep working to get better and to keep improving. I began pitching when I was 10 years old and have loved it ever since. Pitching more than anything else keeps you having to work harder than anyone. Softball as a whole has filled up my life and I would not trade that experience, the learning, and the memories for anything. Softball is very unique in the ways it can teach you, and out of the other 2 sports I play (volleyball, and basketball), softball has been my favorite and has brought me the best overall.
As a pitcher, I really have to be one of the most disciplined people to make sure you get your reps in and you continue getting better. There is a lot of pressure in the mind of a pitcher, I feel as if I am the center, I feel as if everything depends on me. It is a tough position that way, but having it be like that is what makes me enjoy it that much more. I love being in the pressure situations of tight games feeling each pitch out and knowing that I can change everything.
The things I really want in a potential college are things like an education program since I would like to become a teacher, preferably a Division 2, Division 3 or NAIA school. I would also like to continue my education while staying close to Michigan. I am unsure of what age I would like to teach but am almost positive that I am heading on that path. I also want a nice culture and school community that keeps you feeling welcomed and at home. The final thing I want in a college is balance between academic work, and practices, I want to be able to stay busy while not always being overwhelmed.
