My goals for college is to succeed in the medical field, like my Grandmother, who is an ER Physician. I also want to play softball in college and even though academics will be my first priority, my second will be excelling in the sport I love at the same time. I want to become a doctor, so I want to major in Biology/Pre-Med like my mother and my grandmother did in college. I consider my grandmother to be my inspiration because she has the heart, soul, and dedication that it takes to become a doctor. She went through college and medical school with 5 children (my mom and her brothers and sisters were all born within 7 years) so when my grandma started medical school in 1990, her 5 children were all ages 4 to 11! If she can go through college and medical school with 5 children, I know I can do it while playing softball. I want to put my skills to the test, in doing what I love, while excelling in academics at the same time. I know that it will be a challenge to achieve but I'm up for that challenge 100%. While growing up, I remember visiting my grandma at work and her quizzing me bones/body parts of x-rays she would hold up to the light. I was only 5 years old but could tell you the medical term for almost every body part (phalanges was my favorite at that age). I'm not sure what exact kind of doctor I want to be yet (my grandma and I have discussed what would be the best fit for me in the future, yet I'm still undecided) but I have the optimism and drive to know that a doctor is what I WILL become. Once I set my mind on becoming a doctor this past summer, I began putting forth the effort needed to get my grades where they need to be and to not accept anything lower than a B. My next goal is straight A's and I know I can achieve that. I might have just "floated" along in 9th grade, just doing the basic work to keep my grades at a passing score, but now that I have set my mind on my future I am always working on improving my grades and getting the most out of my high school educational experience. The same applies to softball. I may have only begun playing at age 10, but I'm always striving to learn more and always giving my coaches 110% at every practice and event. Once I set my mind to something (whether it be education, sports, life, etc.) I work as hard as I can to be the best I can be.
What makes me a good candidate for playing softball in college is that I have the ability to learn skills quickly and the drive to be the best player. Just like education, softball skills can always be improved and there's always something new to learn. My brain is a sponge so I will take to heart the corrections that I'll be given and apply them. My travel ball & private coaches always say that I work hard, am coachable, and I give everything (even the small things) 110% effort. I don't ever give up and I always want to be the best I can in every aspect of the game. I am determined to help motivate my teammates to work hard also so we can be the best team we can be. Softball is a team sport and that's one of the things that makes me so passionate about it. I truly love playing softball, my heart is in it 110%. Once I put that glove on for the first time I KNEW that this was the sport I was meant to play and I want to take it to college and beyond. I love to concentrate all my athletic effort into softball so I can constantly improve my skills and keep growing as a player. These characteristics set me apart from other players because I have the heart, the drive, I listen to every pointer and direction my coaches give me (and apply them) and I'm willing to work as hard as possible in every aspect of the game to keep excelling, learning and increasing my skills and abilities to be the best player I can be. I want to play softball in college, it's as important a dream to me as becoming a doctor is. I would love to play college softball at the highest level possible but I am open to all collegiate softball possibilities.
Currently I do private cross fit strength & agility training with Amy Posadas 3 times a week. Working with her has taken everything I had previously done to a whole new level. I run miles each week with her & so much more! She increased my core strength so much I now have the ability to do handstand push ups on my own! Contact her for more information on my current strength & agility training & she'll be more than happy to share my current & future information with you!
This is my past strength training with is with Matt Leonard from 2014-2015
