Personal Statement
I began playing softball when I was 9 years old. I have mainly played catcher and centerfield. I started playing on the Inferno travel team when I was 9 with Coach Kristy Macintosh and Shannon Craig. Kristy began working with me as a catcher and I rotated between centerfield and catching. I have always loved to play no matter what position. I am quick and so my coaches had me begin slapping the summer before 7th grade. As a freshman and sophomore in high school I was able to earn a starting position on the varsity team playing center field and slapping/bunting from the left side. Occasionally I would swing away right handed. I was able to earn first team all district and all conference honors as a sophomore. I was in the top two in batting average and on base percentage these years. My Junior year we had new coaches and new needs on our school team. I was moved into the 2nd base position and enjoyed playing that position. I came up short of any honors after a batting slump the first of the season. I finished the season strong both fielding and at bat. This past summer my travel team set a goal to get that State Championship. We did it, we went undefeated in tournament play in the USSSA State Tournament. It was a dream come true for many of us. Next we set out to get the ASA World Series Championship. We had one bad game and found ourselves in the losers bracket on Sunday morning. We hit the field at 9 am determined not to go home without the win. We played 6 games back to back that day with one catcher and 2 pitchers and brought home the championship! It was the perfect ending to the season.
At that time I decided I was definitely not ready to be done playing softball. I have always played because of love the game and I am not ready for that part of my life to be done. talked with my parents and coaches and then I began making calls and trying to find out more about the recruiting process and that is what brought me to this website. My parents and coaches are very supportive of this and are eager to help me.
Along with playing softball in college I want to become a pediatric nurse. I am a very kind, caring and generous person. I think my compassion for others will make me an excellent nurse. I am willing to work hard to make both these dreams come true. Playing softball while obtaining this degree would be amazing to me.
