Personal Statement

A smile is happiness you'll find under your nose.  When I play softball, I smile all the time.  How do I know this?  Coaches, teammates and umpires have said to me when I am on the field, my smile is beaming ear to ear.  This seems to be regardless of what was happening on the field.  So, what is the source of my smile?  I believe the source of my smiles comes from doing something that I truly love and that is playing softball.

At an early age I knew that I wanted to play softball and that I wanted to be a pitcher.  My mom, who was a catcher, did not want me to be a pitcher.  She told me that I would have to put extra time to develop my pitching skills.  She was right.  There were times that I wanted to give up but I pushed myself to improve.  There were times that I would have tough games where I would question my softball abilities and even if I could play more competitively.  Through it all I learned that hard work does pay off.  For me, it has made me a better player, mentally stronger, and very disciplined.

When I look ahead to college, I want to be a student-athlete majoring in nutrition because I have strong interest where my food comes from and how food plays a crucial role in my health and overall well-being.   I know playing  college softball and attending school are not easy tasks.   But with hard work, dedication and determination I will be able to do both with a smile.

Mark Twain, has stated, “Never regret anything that made you smile.”  I look forward in hearing from you as well as playing softball for you which you won't regret and hopefully, as a future member of the team, it will keep us both smiling!

**Also I am graduating early! Therefore I am planning on starting college January 2023.
