Personal Statement
I am a 5' 9" pitcher who played this last season for DIII Hamline University. I am looking to transfer and have obtained my release papers. This season, I appeared in 16 games, threw 72 innings, had an ERA of 2.89, and posted a 7-1 win-loss record. I started 10 of those games and recorded 4 complete games. At the plate, I had a batting average of .321 with 4 doubles and 12 RBI. My On Base Percentage was .337. I pitched against St. Thomas, MN, who finished 3rd in the 2014 DIII softball championship, and allowed 5 hits with no earned runs in 4 innings of relief. I was awarded rookie of the year by Hamline University as well as Honorable Mention All-Conference. In high school, I was the starting varsity pitcher for four years at Anaconda High School and earned 1st team All-State and All-Conference my junior year. As a senior in high school, I threw 138 innings. My high school GPA was 3.97 and I scored 26 on the ACT. I earned a 4.0 GPA in my first semester at Hamline and will have a high GPA in the spring semester. I have been playing organized fastpitch softball since I was 7. I learned to pitch at age 8 and have been working on it ever since. I have played for my local Little League, ASA, and high school teams as well as two traveling teams from Billings, MT and one from Missoula, MT. In the past, I have worked with a pitching coach in Billings, MT. I drove 225 miles one way to work with him once a month. In eight months of working with him, I developed the rise, screw, and curve balls. In addition, I now throw a dropping fastball, flip change, and off speed curve. I am currently working on back door screw and curve balls. Being a very competitive and hardworking person, I am looking for a school that will challenge me both academically and athletically with coaches who can help take me to another level. I want to be part of a competitive team where improving and winning are common goals at all levels of the program and school.
