Personal Statement
I began playing softball in the 3rd grade, and I have always loved the sport and maintained a desire to play at the next level. As a kid, I'd always wondered what it would be like to hit a home run, and be able to jog around the diamond. Over my first two years of high school, I hit eight. My freshman year of high school, I was the starting first baseman and lead off batter at the varsity level. That year, we went undefeated and won the state championship. I was a second team all conference selection. Last season, I made a sacrifice for my team, and learned a new position. Our starting pitcher transferred schools, and my team needed me to step up and fill that position. That year, I was moved to third in the batting order, and earned first team all conference.
One goal of mine going into high school, was to make varsity for both basketball and softball. Not only did I make varsity, I started every varsity game throughout my freshman and sophomore year in both sports. I took off my freshman and sophomore year of volleyball, because I wanted to focus on basketball and softball. My junior year, I decided I wanted to go out again, and I ended up starting every volleyball game my junior year. Along with being a three sport athlete, I work hard to maintain 4.0 GPA and am number one in my class. In addition to this, I volunteer for the Special Olympics Organization teaching basketball to individuals with special needs called the Teton Tigers. I have played for over 15 different coaches in all the sports I have played as a teenager, and each one said I am a very coachable player. I strive to make improvements each and every day, on and off the court or field.
