Personal Statement

It happened! As a sophomore I made the decision to go against the grain and pursue the sport I love the most, softball. After having an extremely successful volleyball season my freshman year I decided to listen to my heart and go back to the sport I was destined to pursue. I played volleyball with my sister her senior year, and although I had the athletic ability and the family background to play volleyball, my heart was never there. My heart was placed in our softball program that was just starting to build itself a name. My softball season as a sophomore only urged my want to be better for the upcoming year. This want showed throughout my junior year, when I set the class c record for stolen bases and tied the record for season triples. Not only did my junior season show for myself, but for my team when we ended our season as class c district runner ups after losing to Wayne in the district finals.

I was fortunate enough to receive an abundance of love and support to make the switch to play softball. In 2016, the softball program at Boone Central High school only had 5 season wins. In 2018 Boone Central now has 22 seasonal wins and was in the running to qualify for the Nebraska state tournament. Growing this program and facing the hardships of switching sports, has taught me the values of teamwork, work ethic, sacrifice, leadership, and commitment. I am looking for a school to continue my hard work in academics and through sports. I believe I not only have the talent to compete on a college team, but the character, work ethic, and leadership skills to make an impact on your program. As a multi-sport athlete and well involved student, I know I have what it takes to be on your team.
