I have found that during the recruiting process, the most difficult thing for me is talking about myself. I have always worked towards my goals quietly, put my teammates first, and found success in doing so. Growing up in such a small town, my goal as a potential college athlete is never understood. Everyone, including my high school coach, feels as though I work 'too hard' at softball. At times, it is difficult because my friends don't understand the work it takes to chase my dream.
I love the game, but have always put my education first. Watching my sister play college soccer while on the Dean's list makes me aspire to do the same. I think what makes me different from my teammates off the field is the work that I put in at the cages, gym, stage, garage, basement -- anywhere I can find space. What separates me from my teammates on the fields is my situational awareness and ability to remain unaffected by whatever may happen in the game. Since I was young, I have always been able to keep my head down and do my job.
As for my character, I don't drink or smoke, and I have never really been drawn to parties. I truly want to take advantage of all the education my college will offer. I know that the next few years of my young adult life will have a profound impact on the direction of the rest of my life.
I will be a hard-working, respectful student athlete and teammate if I am blessed to play college softball. Thank you very much for considering me,
