Personal Statement
My goal is to select an institution to attend first and foremost for the education. I love softball and playing the game is important to me, but I realize there will be life after college and my degree will matter. Currently I am considering going to law school after graduating, so the foundation I receive in earning my bachelor's degree will be even more vital.
As a player, I am selfless and hard working. Last year, I practiced the entire pre-season at the shortstop position. In the first inning of the first game of the year, the returning starting pitcher got injured. As a freshman, I was thrust into the role of starting pitcher from that moment forward. Despite limited pre-season practice, I pitched every inning of every game. Sometimes we played multiple games in one day and several times we played multiple games in a row during the course of a week. I admit, there were times that my body hurt and I felt emotionally spent. Yet, I never complained and I always gave the best effort I could. In the end, my coaches voted me team MVP and perhaps even more important to me was the fact that my teammates voted me as "best teammate." Moving forward, I know that I will be the starting pitcher for our high school team this year. I am training my body and mind for the rigor of the season and I expect to avenge some of last season's losses. That is who I am. A hard working, self-disciplined, team first, intelligent athlete and person.
