Personal Statement
My name is Maggie Dorgan and I have been a softball player for 11 years.
I am a senior year at Red Jacket High School in Shortsville, New York. I received my varsity letter in the 8th grade for track and cross country for which I am still a part of. As an 8th grader, I also played on the JV softball team and pitched the majority of the season. The team was almost undefeated the two seasons I was on the roster. I have been on the varsity team since my sophomore year being the primary pitcher. Our team was the league champions in our 2016 season.
I began my travel experience with the Rochester Revenge but found my family with the Penfield Cobras who I played with for with for four and a half years. I was an important part of my team's 6 different championships. I have recently started with the Rochester Thunder after the Cobras were unable to field an 18U team. I have been working with my pitching coach, Lisa Nazarenko, for 6 years as well. I also play in any of the outfield positions, 2nd base and occasionally shortstop. I have the confidence of my coaches that when they put me anywhere on the field I will perform to the best of my ability.
Not only do I feel success on the field, I succeed in the classroom as well. I am in honors, Gemini and AP classes and am currently taking two college courses at Finger Lakes Community College. I am ranked number 3rd in my class of 68 students. I am currently the class representative for student council for the third year, a vocalist in the select choir, active in my local church youth program and an instructor for Be Pitcher Perfect.
It is my dream to play at the college level regardless of the division. I am interested in studying psychology with a minor in education. I am a hard worker and will do whatever it takes to succeed on and off the field.
