Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Amala Clawson and I am a left-handed pitcher from Asheville, North Carolina. Each time I step onto the softball field, I am reminded of how much I love the game. I am a very competitive person, and I have a strong desire to win every time my feet hit the dirt. I love to win, but I also believe that each practice and game provides an opportunity for me to be a great leader and teammate, no matter the outcome. With this in mind, I always try to give my best effort and hustle at all times to set a good example not only for my teammates, but also for any younger players that could be watching. I consider my teammates as family, and I always try to encourage and support them in any way that I can.
My coach once told me that good things happen to those who work hard, and this serves as a reminder to me not only in softball, but also in the classroom. I am determined to be the best student I can be in hopes of one day going to medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon. I know that the academic road ahead of me will not be easy, especially if I have the opportunity to play in college, but I will be prepared to face the challenges.
If I earn the opportunity to play softball in college, I am determined to work hard and bring a strong passion for the game, and dedication to my team. I will also strive to be a great leader and teammate on and off the field, regardless if we win or lose.
