I am currently in my third year of high school and am extremely excited to see what happens during the next 2 years. I am a solo athlete, focusing only on softball, but that allows me to become a smarter and better player. As a pitcher, I have learned how to successfully read batters and sometimes even coaches. The easy part of the game for me is staying positive and cheering on my teammates. My coaches refer to me as a workhorse because I never miss practice and I'm always willing to do more than what is asked or expected of me. This desire to become better than I was yesterday is why I am the leader of my travel team, and of my school team as well. As the leader, I put the weight of the team on my shoulders daily. I listen to criticism from coaches and teammates and use that to reach my goal of becoming a better athlete. The hardest part of the game was learning how to control my emotions on the field, but for the most part, I'm really good at now. I no longer allow poor sportsmanship or bad umpires effect me, instead I use that as another source of motivation. Focusing on softball alone has allowed my love and passion for game to grow, so I make myself coachable and open to any feedback. I have a strong desire to play college level softball and hopefully one day, or even play at a higher level. Right now I have my mind set on majoring in sports science, or something in that nature so I can be an athletic trainer.
