Personal Statement
I love playing softball, and I want to play for as long as possible. My goal in college softball is to become the best player I can be. I am a good candidate for your team because I’m a team player, and I understand the fact that no single player is the cause of a victory or defeat. Whatever happens during a game happens as a result of the team as a whole. I’m not afraid to work hard to earn my spot on the field, and I know that nothing will be handed to me.
Athletically, I’m eager to improve my strength, skill and speed at every opportunity. Because of my background in Martial Arts the past 9 years, I’m used to conditioning and discipline. If a coach stops me in the middle of a drill and tells me to do twenty push-ups, I will do so without complaint. I recognize that on the field, the coach is the top authority and whether it’s a practice or game, I always need to listen and do exactly as my coach says. Something I’ve heard over and over in my athletic career is “If you do exactly as your coach says, you will be successful.” I believe this is true and I will always strive to go above and beyond at whatever my coach asks me to do, whether I want to do it or not. I’ve been doing leadership training in Martial Arts for the past three years, and I believe that is a valuable part of my character that will benefit me as well as my teammates on and off the field.
As far as my grades, I know that education is always the first priority. I understand that if I want to play softball, I need to keep my grades at a high level. After all, I’m going to need more than softball if I’m going to succeed in life. I’ll enjoy it and play it for as long as I can, but after college, it’s my education which will allow me to be successful.
I love playing softball, and I’m ready and willing to do whatever it takes to succeed.
