Personal Statement
Softball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My dad played baseball growing up and as an adult played men's softball for years. He signed me up for tee ball as soon as I was old enough and I instantly fell in love with the game. Softball has taught me how to be a team player and how to sacrifice yourself for the 8 other girls on the field with you. I have built lifelong friendships because of a shared passion for the game.
One of my proudest moments as a softball player was making first team all conference my freshman year. I am enrolled at Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School in Dayton Ohio. At CJ the values of an honest selfless Catholic are instilled in me on a day to day basis with daily religion classes and prayers. In addition to my Honors English and Honors Geometry classes I am enrolled in two science classes, Chemistry and Human Body Systems, a PLTW course.
After high school, I intend to study nursing. Helping people who can't help themselves is something that I find rewarding. I am a member of my parish youth group at St Christopher in Vandalia Ohio. As a member of Youth Group we meet and discuss service opportunities in our community. Additionally, through my high school I give back to my community by volunteering at a local food bank. I consider myself a leader and a problem solver on and off the field. Whether its a group project in History class or a game situation, I am the first to take charge and try to work the issues out for the sake of my team. As a catcher, this is a good quality to have because often times you are looked to by your other 8 teammates on the field to help the team in times of trouble.
I hope to attend a university that can both fulfill my dreams as a softball player and a medical professional!
