Personal Statement
My name is Riley Jackson and I will be graduating from Tallmadge High School in 2024. Softball has been a major part of life for the past eleven years. I just finished my Junior season with a record of 24-5 on the mound after facing some tough league and OHSAA tournament competition, with an overall ERA 1.654.
On June 2nd, 2023 my high-school team and I won the OHSAA DII State Championship. Throughout the tournament I recorded all seven wins on the mound and pitched a shut out in the Championship game. This accomplishment still feels surreal, but it is the drive that continues to push me year round to be the best player and teammate I can be.
This summer I will be playing Travel Ball with my team, Racer Youth Fastpitch 05’ Becks.
June 9th-11th Ashland 5 Game Classic, Ashland OH
June 16th-18th Sheer Madness, North Ridgeville OH
June 30th- July 2nd Explosive Fireworks Frenzy, North Ridgeville OH
July 14th-16th Outlaws Great Lake Showcase, Canfield OH
July 24th-29th USSSA East National Championship, Ocean City MD
I throw six pitches, but my favorite is the curve ball. It was the third pitch I learned how to throw, and it gets utilized the most. I have been playing Travel Softball and taking private pitching lessons for the past nine years. I am working towards throwing consistently over 62 mph and perfecting my rise ball.
I have a passion for this sport because of the lessons I have learned on and off the field, my competitive drive to always push myself and the lifelong memories it has given me. I am working to hopefully play at the collegiate level as I pursue my college degree.
