Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Sydney McDermott I am a 2023 graduate. I play for Ohio Hawks. I'm primarily an RHP  and my secondary is 1st. I attend Portsmouth West High School in Southern Ohio. I love softball and looking to play at the next level! I fell in love with softball at a young age and I have always dreamed and made it a goal of mine to compete at the next level. I love the process of getting better and constantly improving. 

I am a hard worker on and off the softball field. I maintain an unweighted 3.95/4.0 GPA. As well as softball, I also play basketball. I believe that being a multi-sport athlete does not only make you a better athlete but also teaches you many skills. Such as time managing, you learn to manage and make time to get in the work you need to become a better athlete. 

I am a hardworking, determined, and persistent athlete. I will work hard in all aspects of life. I have always loved the quote, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." I will always give my 100%. I am also very determined, I set high goals and expectations for myself and my team. This goes right along with persistence. I will not stop until I reach my goals. I am not wasting any potential, my goal is to be the best me I can be and have no regrets.
