Personal Statement
My name is Meranda Zanni, I am a Senior at Phoenix High School in Phoenix, Oregon. I look forward to playing Softball again at the Varsity level for Phoenix High School, but I continue to play 18U Gold ASA Fastpitch Softball for NW Adrenaline, based out of Medford, OR. I believe in loyalty to my team and coaches, with hard work being the key to accomplish personal and team goals. I have been fortunate enough to have received Honorable Mention to the Oregon State High School Team and 1st Team Conference all 3 years, MVP (Far West League) my Sophomore year, but my desire is to lead my team not only a league championship, but to a State Championship. I was honored to receive the MVP trophy at the NAFA 2011 and 2012 Summer Nationals Tournaments, in Newberg, Oregon.
I believe in "practice like you play and you will play like you practice", so staying late for extra work on skills, getting dirty for a ground ball, and putting in extra effort, means I will be prepared for extra innings. I have played fastpitch softball since I was 7 years old (10 years and counting), wanting at least 5 more years and dreaming of playing college softball. My ultimate dream school would be one I would be a starting player my Freshman year, but I understand every member of the team has their place, so as a starting player or not I will do my part to make the team better, but I am open to the idea of new places and experiences and I am open to different types of schools. I have kept my grade point average at 3.5 or better and have been on the Honor Roll since as far back as I can remember. I would like to work one day as a Medical Examiner/Coroner or a Pharmacist, but still open to more ideas. My desire is to play at the highest competitive level possible and be the best player I can be, while making my team the best we can be, on and off the field.
