Personal Statement
I have only played softball for 4 years, but I have improved significantly through the power of motivation, dedication, commitment, and time. When I first started playing, I struggled to hit the ball past the infield and my throwing looked like rainbows. That meant I had to rely on my unbelievable speed in order to get on base. However, I've gotten stronger as a player so I can now hit the ball farther than I could ever imagine. I may not be a power hitter, but I have hit the ball over the fence a couple times before. However, I specialize in hitting line drives and gaps so that I can get on base and utilize my speed because the fun begins when I am on the bases. I have been officially timed as 2.91 from home to first at a softball camp sponsored by Rutgers University, but in a game situation, I can run the same distance at a 2.75.
I strive to utilize my talents and be the best version of myself in order to fulfill my potential as a student athlete. I love to hustle! I bring forth energy to my team since I inspire them to play with heart. My competitiveness, passion, and aggression is shown through my efforts in center field. .I have caught balls the whole way up to second base, close to the fence, and in the gaps of right and left field. Though I may not throw the fastest, i have thrown a significant number of girls out from my defensive position. During some travel ball tournaments, I would get noticed and complimented by other parents because of my reaction time for catching fly balls and my strong throws. In fact, during the Columbus Tournament, I have won two MVP awards the same day.
I am truly honored to have my name be in ALL Section for the 4A section in WPIALS in Pennsylvania after my junior year. It was voted in by the coaches, and the 4A division is reputed to be one of the hardest sections in the WPIAL conference. Hard work is truly starting to pay off. :)
I prioritize my academics because it is the foundation to how I will my life in the future, and I enjoy helping others out whenever I find the opportunity to. I treat all of my coaches with respect because they sacrifice their energy and time to teach valuable lessons, and I respect my team too because we have the same goal of winning and striving to be better ball players.
