Rachel Zona 2020 ...Personal Statement
My name is Rachel Zona and I am a student at New Castle Senior High School in New Castle, PA graduating in 2021. I am currently enrolled in Advanced College Placement and Honors courses with a 4.41 GPA. I plan to major in Mechanical Engineering in college.
I developed a love of the game from the moment I first picked up a softball. I strive to be the best student athlete that I can be and to lead my teammates and peers towards their personal best. I am a disciplined and highly motivated student who recognizes the level of commitment, hard work and sacrifice it takes to strive for success both academically and on the field.
I am currently a Senior who started as a Freshman Pitcher and Utility Player for New Castle Senior High School, as well as a member of the Pittsburgh Power Premier and ROC Elite 18U travel ball teams. Most utilized positions are P, SS, RF, CF, and LF. I have been honored with the title Most Valuable Player in multiple tournaments with ROC Elite. I am currently dedicated to working year round on increasing strength, speed, and agility.
In addition to softball, I have a number of academic accomplishments of which I am proud. A few include: Outstanding Young Spokesperson of the Future from the Veteran of Foreign Wars of the United States and its Auxiliary, Nominee Representative from New Castle Senior High School for the National Youth Leadership Forum for Engineering &Technology and the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientist Congress.
