Personal Statement
I have known from a very young age that the love of ball was inside me and it was something that I wanted to explore and grow. Some of my earliest memories are sitting with my Dad nightly and cheering on the Orioles. It was a great time and I would tell him during every game that I was going to play ball when I grew up. I was persistent and he signed me up for T-ball. He moved me into softball after 1 year and the fire inside me was lit! Since then the fire has burned continuously and becomes more intense with every at bat, every caught ball, every stop at home, and even with the strikeouts. Every play, every game, every win, every loss helps shape me into a better ball player.
Softball has always been and always will be my number one passion; however, I believe it is essential to be a well rounded athlete at my age and it’s the reason I participate in both track and field as well as field hockey. One of my biggest accomplishments from track and field was earning my first JV letter in my initial season and as an 8th grader. Across 7 meets I finished 1st in shot put 6 times and in discus I finished 1st 5 times. The remaining finishes were all 2nd place. In field hockey, I was presented with the unsung hero award which celebrates a young lady who demonstrates outstanding leadership, integrity, and dedication. I also received my 2nd JV pin for goalkeeper.
While being a well rounded athlete is essential, I believe that being a well rounded young lady is the number one priority. This is why in addition to sports I am active in JROTC, church, and various school events. I look forward to attending college for Early Childhood Education and expanding my self in academics, athletics, and personal growth.
