Personal Statement
I have always loved the game of softball, but I only started to consider playing at the collegiate level when I entered ninth grade. The spirit of competition is something I have always looked for and enjoyed, and that feeling became evident in my first year of high school ball. Ultimately, my goal is to compete in college because of the elite levels of talent and excitement that are displayed in the game of softball.
After being coached on many teams and spending time with so many teammates, I believe the overall quality that makes a good player and person is character. Because I have watched many girls play the game before me, I can truly admire the way in which they handled themselves in tough situations. Therefore, I also strive to remain positive and confident in my abilities and the abilities of my teammates. Maintaining an attitude of leadership, yet also being a coachable player, is another set of qualites I work at continuously. Lastly, I have learned that it is extremely important to keep cheering even when you make a mistake. There are eight other girls out there on the field, and they need the ninth one to make the team complete.
Even though sports have been a huge part of my life, academics have always come first. I have always felt that as long as I worked hard to receive good grades, little stress would be added to my mind when it came time for practices and games. I do take pride in my studies, and I understand that without them, softball would not be possible.
Playing softball at the collegiate level is definitely something I want and for which I am willing to work. I am open to mostly anything and hopeful that the right opportunity will come my way.
