Hey, I’m Avery Bendewald from Aberdeen South Dakota. I am a graduate of 2026, and have been playing competitive softball for 6 years, playing shortstop for all of them, and being moved around as a utility for some. I bat more dominant on the right side, but I am a switch hitter. I also wrestle for my high school. I love wrestling, but I wouldn’t see myself doing it in college like I would softball. One hobby I have is going to the gym. I am on a 3 on 1 off schedule, so I go around 5 days a week. Another hobby being pickle ball. Me and a few teammates and friends like to have pickle ball tournaments together once and awhile.
Playing softball has been an huge part of my life, shaping not only my athletic abilities but also my character and work ethic. From a young age, I discovered a passion for the game that has driven me to continually improve and push my limits. The teamwork required in softball has taught me the value of collaboration and communication, both on and off the field.
In college, I am eager to take my skills to the next level and contribute to a competitive team. I believe that playing softball in college will provide me with the opportunity to grow as an athlete and a person. I am interested in pursuing pharmacy while in college. I believe the discipline and dedication required to balance academics and athletics will give me a higher sense of responsibility and prepare me for the future.
