Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Bailey Maine. I am currently part of the 2025 class at Douglas High School in Box Elder, South Dakota. Softball has been a part of my life for about six years, and before I started playing softball, I played baseball for about four years. I am primarily a pitcher, but I also play first base. While playing softball, I have learned how to overcome obstacles and play through mental blocks. I have learned that softball is a game of mistakes but also achievements. Softball is a very rewarding sport. I want to further my softball career at the collegiate level and my education.
Along with my passion for softball, my education is also a top priority of mine. I have learned how to manage my time with schoolwork. School has always been important to me to keep my grades up and to stay up to date on work. While playing softball, my coaches taught me to play with a "goldfish memory," meaning forget the little mistakes and keep moving forward. This little phrase has helped me better my mindset throughout games and life. I have learned it is always about the next play, and in a quick game like softball, you have to always be ready for the next play so you cannot have past mistakes weighing you down.
