Personal Statement
My name is Carol Warren, I'm a 2026 Catcher/ Outfield from Fury Premier 2026- Ventura! I started softball at eight years old because I wanted to play a sport fun and exciting, so I signed up. Shortly after I began catching because I was the only girl that was tall enough to fit the gear, but I soon fell in love with the position. I fell in love because catching taught me how to be a leader, how to carry a heavy load of responsibility, and it taught me true grit and perseverance. I learned the important mindset that hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard, and I still stand by that. I have worked hard every day to get better and improve my game, but in seventh grade, I developed major health issues. I had to miss many practices and wasn't able to play for a while because I struggled with extreme pain, later I was diagnosed with Functional Abdominal Pain syndrome. During this time I thought I would be so far behind that I should give up, but I didn't. I worked and worked and worked some more to be the best athlete for my team. As a result of this setback, I have come back stronger, more determined, a wonderful leader, and an amazing player. When I came back, I won the Bulldog Award, which is an award given at my school to the player with the best work ethic and leadership skills. Now my goals are to improve myself and climb the levels of softball quickly, play college softball, and obtain a degree in sports medicine or sports management. Every day I wake up and choose to persevere for the sake of a younger Carol Warren, to make her proud, and to chase her dreams.
