Personal Statement

My motivation that I follow is: “Heart is the difference between those who attempt and those who achieve.”

My name is Kylie and I’m a Senior (2018 grad). I play outfield and catcher and I’m the captain of my varsity team. Throughout my softball career, I have attempted to learn as much as possible about the game from the people around me, including my parents, coaches, teammates and even opponents. I have been lucky enough to play on some terrific teams with some talented ladies and wonderfully supportive coaches. I'm a very coachable player. These experiences have helped me gain a better understanding of my goal of playing softball in college and what it will take to get to that next level. I play with all my heart.

I may come from a small town but I have big dreams! I want to study the forensic sciences in college; forensic anthropology or forensic chemistry. I take my studies very seriously which is proven by my 4.0 GPA that I currently have. My goal is to graduate as valedictorian of my class of 2018 and as a Tennessee Scholar. I'm currently in a program called Middle College which allows me to attend Roane State Community College full time as well as attending HS. I'm in my 2nd year of the program and will graduate with my AS in Biology at the same time I graduate from HS in the spring. Without an education I am nothing. I volunteer my time to help others and believe that becoming a well rounded person will only help me achieve every goal and dream I have in my life. I learn with all my heart.

I consider myself one of those people who finally understand how to make things happen. I have gone from being someone who was shy and uncertain to a person who is becoming more self-confident and assertive. It has been a remarkable metamorphosis and one that I am still working on growing into. The key to it all has been putting my heart into everything that I do and focusing on my dreams for the future. Only I can drive the path that my heart has set.
