Why I want to play softball in college?
For me softball is not just a hobby to pass time with, it’s to compete at a high level and succeed at every at bat and every defensive play. Playing softball is a gift of being able to work towards something even greater than premier, the ultimate level, the greatest platform, to show every skill that you have perfected over the years and to showcase it at the collegiate level of college softball. The best part of softball is when you step to the plate and the only thing that matters in the world is you and the pitch. It doesn’t matter what field, how big the catcher is, or what drama is going on that day, it’s just you and the ball. There is no telling what could happen. But passion ultimately wins the game. There might be a pitcher that towers 3 feet above me but who says I can’t defeat her. I deeply believe that the only way to win the game is to leave your heart, body, and soul out on the field. I knew from the first time I stepped on the field that I wanted to do just that.I know that when you enter that collegiate level you are surrounded by girls that are hungry to dominate and I want to be able to contribute to that and to be able to say when I’m done with my softball career “I gave everything I had at every opportunity to play softball!” College not only gives me a chance to open a new chapter in my softball career but it also allows me to do what I love and at the same time get an education for my future.
Why I would be a good asset?
Academics is a competition in itself where the ultimate goal is to get the highest scores. Achieving those high scores takes discipline, drive, and dedication, all of which are the same qualities that I strive have in softball. I push myself to work hard every day and I have the discipline to sweat my butt off 24/7 ; I apply that same mindset to my education which is how I achieve high scores. I am a very competitive student that strives to maintain a great GPA and dominate every class in school. Academics are very important to me, so I take time to ask questions, understand and do whatever I have to do to excel. There are times when it gets really tough to maintain my GPA, but I have to push through just like in softball. Not only am I a great student athlete but I know I also bring lots of speed to the table. I train very hard so that I can have the endurance to be highly competitive throughout the games. My speed alone allows me to steal and get on base consistently. My quickness also puts a lot of pressure on other teams causing havoc anytime with small ball or smart running. Another valuable asset is that I can play almost anywhere and transition anywhere very easily. I can go from catching deep fly balls in the outfield to fielding hard shots in the infield. I have always had the hunger to better myself and increase my IQ of the game. Over the years of travel ball, I feel that each team that I have been on I grasp more information, different outlooks, and ultimately resulting into growing to be a better ball player.
My goals for college?
College is the next and final chapter of my educational career. I feel that a college education is crucial because it will be used to build my foundation for my life in the real world. I am still considering many different career paths but I do know wherever I go I will I achieve a great education and play at the highest level of the game. There are many different colleges that offer different skills all over the country and I am open to instate/out of state because my main goal is to play softball and to receive a quality education.
