Personal Statement
I have played softball since I was 5. In every year that I have played, I have learned something about myself that has allowed me to become a better person and athlete. Sometimes it was failure that made me grow or success that taught me how to win with respect and self-restraint. Mostly I have learned that success can only be achieved and continued by working hard and by staying humble and hungry. I believe in saying very little when I lose and even less when I win. I have always enjoyed the process of being great and believe that hard work will always beat talent that does not work hard.
I have been described as a player with a high softball IQ who does not put my emotions on display. This is a fair description of me, but it does not mean that I am not emotional, intense or competitive. I am fiercely competitive, motivated and determined to do more than what is expected of me. I believe in leading by example in both games and in practice. I enjoy the aspect of playing and being part of a team and love working together to obtain goals.
I am a serious student who is goal oriented. I believe that I have the talent to play at the collegiate level but do not take it for granted. Through my character, work ethic and leadership, I believe that I would make an immediate impact in your program.
