Madison Goughnour '23 Recruiting Profile

Dear softball, 

I love you with all of my heart. Even though we’ve had our rough patches you were always there for me. You were there to pick me up at my lowest of lowest. You were there to keep me through my highest of highs. Softball, I don’t know what I’d do without you. You have taught me to how to get back up when I never thought I could. You’ve taught me to battle out the count even when it wasn’t in my favor. You have taught me to fight for what I want and what I deserve. Softball, I have poured my blood, sweat, and tears into you...literally and you have given it all back. Look, I know sometimes we get stuck in a spot and never seem like we can move forward but you have taught me that you can always make up your mistakes by doing something better. You’ve showed me that it’s okay to lose sometimes, it’s not the best feeling in the world, but you always learn something from it. Softball, you’ve showed me what it’s like to be part of a team. A team is like a second family who you strive to be better for so that you can all succeed together. Even through playing the game, it’s the feeling of teamwork you remember, not the score, not the plays, but the feeling of knowing that someone always has your back.  Softball, you’ve led me to figure out who is always going to be there for me, no matter what. But softball, I am the most appreciative of shaping me into the person I am today. Softball, thank you for everything you have done for me and the life you’ve led me to live.
