Personal Statement
My name is Alexah Gordon, and I am a Freshman at Kettle Run High School in Warrenton, VA. I would like to major in radiology. I feel this would be a career path that I would enjoy and thrive in. My true passion and desire is to pursue softball at the collegiate level. While division level is something that I think about, what takes precedence is getting on the field. Throughout my softball career, I have proven that I am willing to put in whatever work is needed both on and off the field to achieve my goals.
My love for the game began with my grandfather. He played baseball as a young man and I consider myself lucky to have everlasting memories of watching softball with him. He encouraged me to give the sport a try. After my initial tryout, I discovered this was not only something that I instantly fell in love with but was more rewarding than any other sport I had participated in.
With my passion for softball comes an equivocal passion for academics. My strongest subject is Math and I love to constantly challenge myself in school as I do on the field. Always working to improve my speed stats, batting averages, and outplaying myself from game to game and tournament to tournament.
My time playing and learning the game has been at an accelerated rate. Beginning the game just a few short years ago, I was lucky enough to have coaches who saw my potential and pushed for me to play on top-notch teams with top-notch players. That, on top of my relentless drive and motivation has allowed me to achieve personal and team goals I never knew possible.
On a personal note, I am a good listener, love to make people laugh, and find comfort in offering support to those around me. My teammates view me as someone they can turn to for advice; this is paramount as I like to make sure the attitude stays positive even through difficult times.
I look forward to whatever my future may hold.
