Personal Statement

Jenna Shull - 2024 Grad . RHP/1B - power hitter - James Wood High School (Virginia) 

  Throughout my softball career I have hit 24 out of the park homeruns. This past high school season my team set a school record for the most victories! (22-3). Not only did we break a school record but we claimed our first regional win and our first ever state tournament berth in school history! I was 11-1 and 2 saves on the mound with a 3.57 ERA & third in the area with 93 strikeouts.

  My previous high school coach dubbed me " Miss Poise Under Pressure" as I always kept my composure no matter the circumstance.  I was fortunate enough to take pitching lessons from Ivy Rosenberry from Virginia Tech who just transferred to Oklahoma State. My favorite part of softball is being a Game Changer and a team player!

Attending our prospect day gives the serious high school or junior college player an inside look at our program and campus life at Mary Baldwin University. The college visit portion of the day includes a tour of campus and presentations from Admissions/Financial Aid and Student Life. Lunch in Hunt Dining Hall will be provided for the potential student-athlete and two guests. Three games Saturday & two on Sunday, A Select game on Sunday morning at 8am. / Travel coaches will still make out the line ups, but after you're introduce and handover your team, have a seat on the outside of the dugout and let the college coaches take over. The college coaches want to see what your team can do and how they respond to them. The best way to do that is for you to let them play and remain outside.

  • COMBO PACKAGES Option 1: Pitching 9a-12p / Hitting 12:30p-3:30p HITTING: Hitters attending this clinic will be learning the swing that is being taught at the top levels of college softball! In addition to the unique philosophies and drills that we will be incorporating into this clinic, we will also use provide video analysis and measurements of each player's swing. We will be measuring hand speed, barrel speed, exit velocity, launch angle, and distance. The schedule will be broken down as follows: Intro to hitting philosophy Hitting skill work Hitting cage work; measurement & analysis Live hitting off pitchers. PITCHING: ​ In the advanced Pitching session, Coach Shock will focus on fastballs and change-ups for the first part of of the session. Drills will be geared toward pitching mechanics, speed, and location. The second part of the session will be devoted to developing other pitches including drop, rise, curve, screw. Pitchers will focus on developing the pitches that best match their level of ability. The final portion of the camp will focus on drills and exercises specifically geared toward developing overall pitching strength and power. ​ If pitchers stay for the hitting session, they will also throw live to batters. At the end of the camp, participants will receive an evaluation sheet with drills to help them maintain what they’ve worked on.
