Personal Statement
Hello,
My name is Melissa Alma. My Sophomore year i was second team all League. My Junior year i was second team all league as well, and was also awarded the Golden Glove.I was also team captain my junior year.I work so hard because this is the sport i have always loved. I love all my teammates, and never want to see any of them down,so i always try to pump them up no matter what the score. My coach would describe me as the quarter back, the general who leads us into war every game.It has always been a huge dream of mine to play softball in college.I have been playing softball for 13 years. I have been a starter on my high school team since 8th grade.I have played every position on the field, but my primary positions are shortstop and 3rd base.I was apart of a summer league team called the Kittitas County Cyclones, the summer before my sophomore year. We went to many tournements, many out of state, including Las Vegas.I played many postions on that team, including outfield. I want to major in veterinarian,so i would like to go to a college that has all the credits i need to get into veterinarian school. I live in Washington State, so i do not want to go too far from home, but out of Washington is fine. I really want to play for division 1 or a division 2 college, but mainly want to play softball and go to college at the same time. I believe that i could play as a freshman. i have the heart and the drive to do whatever it takes to play at the highest competition level possible. We are a low income family. My parents are divorced so it is hard to make ends meat for both of my parents. I have a minimum wage job to try and help out. But i know that softball and my grades are the only way i have a chance at getting into college. I would have loved to play more summer league but we couldnt afford it again. Also, I was selected to play for a U.S.A team in a week tournement in italy, but wasnt able to because we would not be able to get the money. Softball is my life! I have the drive to do whatever I can to help my team! Collegiate softball has always been a dream, I want to make it a reality!
