My name is Veronica Onyon and I am a Junior at Lake Ridge High School in Grand Prairie, Texas. I've been playing club softball for 7 years and just started playing with Extra Innings 18U Gold, for the 2019-present. Each year I enjoy it more and more and look forward to continuing my athletic career into college. I practice a few days a week in addition to high school and club practices on my pitching skills, hitting skills, strength & conditioning. I asked my parents to do this even though this is sacrificing a lot of time for them, my friends, our family and me because I love playing softball.
I want to play with girls who want the same things as me. I want to win, take training and playing serious while having fun. I make sacrifices to play at the next level and I like being on a team willing to work as hard while having fun. I think I've finally found the right team. Just in the past couple months that I've played with this team, I have been more successful in pitching and our team has shown immediate success.
One of my strengths is that I can persevere and perform well in very intense and stressful situations. I am very coachable and am willing to try new things in order to get better. I learn and pickup on skills quickly and I work hard at mastering these skills in a short amount of time.
I also play basketball and I do strength & conditioning multiple days a week. I am 17 years old and can Power Clean 155 pounds, back squat 175 pounds and deadlift 225 pounds. I enjoy working with weights and developing my agility more, I'm excited to see how much better I can get and how far I can go with softball.
