Personal Statement
I didn't realize that I wanted to play select softball until I was about 12. Late in the summer about two weeks before I was about to start my first round of select tryouts, I broke my arm. This caused me to miss all chances of trying out for a select team, and put me a year behind the competition. The next year was a huge learning curve for both me and my parents. We realized that I was not yet ready to play at the B team level and eventually, after many failed tryouts, I made a C team. The level of intensity was lower then I expected but it motivated me to work towards a B team, the next season. As a player who has not always been at the level I wanted, my top priority is being coachable and a supportive teammate. I am not loud and outgoing, but I am friendly and approachable. On and off the field, I lead by example, but during game time I use my "catcher voice" (as my coach calls it) to take charge and own my position. In school I am focused and disciplined, and I plan on taking AP classes throughout the rest of my high school career. I currently have softball practice at least three days a week and I do at-home conditioning everyday. Thoughts of my college and future careers keep me motivated to work towards my goal of getting good grades and becoming a Varsity starter as a Sophomore this year. Career-wise I want to be a veterinarian and, one day, a coach.
