Personal Statement
In the years gone by that I have played softball, I have been blessed with more opportunities then a girl could ever ask for. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to be able to travel all over the country, meet new people, and develop lifelong skills through a sport I love. However, I am nothing short of relentless when it comes to the pursuit of excellence.
Not only am I passionate about continuing softball at the highest level I can, I also want to find a school where I will be challenged from an academic standpoint as well. I have had a love of learning for as long as I can remember, and I don't plan on cutting myself short on receiving the best education I can find. I believe that my goals on the field and in the classroom correlate because I expect the best of myself in both, and I have no fear of continuing to grow by facing tasks to where failure is a possibility. In that situation, I understand taking failure and learning from it to improve is necessary if I expect to rise above all others.
My philosophy on work ethic is that motivation alone will not carry one to the highest level. Without discipline and routine, one cannot expect to achieve their goals on motivation alone. I frequently remind myself that playing this sport is a privilege and that I GET to work hard, even in times where I don't feel my best. This separates and elevates me above other athletes because the perspective that being challenged is a gift, rather then a burden.
