Personal Statement
Growing up being the only girl with four brothers provided me many experiences that others may not have had. My brothers and I were always outside playing something as kids. I learned at a young age to be tough, have perseverance, never give up and to work together as a team. With five of us kids, I learned to share with my siblings, cooperate to get things done and have lots of patience. My brothers never took it easy on me which has helped me become even more driven.
My parents sacrificed to send us through a grade school parochial education. At the time I did not appreciate it however looking back it helped mold me into who I am today. Not only did I get a great base to my education, my faith is an important part of how I live each day.
I am different from other girls because I didn't start playing club/travel softball until my sophomore year. Up to that point, I only played for my high school team and community summer program. My Freedom team has competed against club teams in local tournaments however I am excited to now be a part of a traveling team giving me the opportunity to grow and develop as a player.
I am unsure of what I want to study in college at this point but am leaning towards the area of psychology. I am a good student which I am hoping will provide me several opportunities in this field. There is such a need for mental health and I believe I can contribute to my community in that area with some form of education in psychology.
