Hello my name is Mariah Estrada. I am a sophomore at Leading Edge Academy, GEC. I have been playing basketball since I was in kindergarten starting with the YMCA. Ever since then I fell in love with the game and from as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of playing in the WNBA. Going into my freshman year of high school, I played summer ball with the 4X state championship varsity girls at Leading Edge Academy. By the end of the summer, I was awarded MVP and All Tourney being the #1 shooter with the most points in a game - 32pts. I’ve since then broken that record :) My freshman year I made the varsity team. In December of that year, we traveled to San Diego, California and went undefeated and won the championship against the #1 team in San Diego beating them by 20. In all, my team went 34-1 and I was fortunate to have played and won a state championship. At the end of the year, my coach honored me with the most improved player of the year award.
I have been so blessed to be able to play the sport I love making my family and friends very proud. I work hard in school and on the Court. I always strive to do better than I did yesterday.
