I am a self-motivated person. I always put 110% into anything that I do, whether it is basketball, softball, track, school work, or church. It doesn't matter what others expect of me, I set my own expectations and goals that usually far exceed others. I am willing to work hard to improve myself. I spend countless extra hours in the gym to work on my shots. I push myself in every practice regardless if others on the team do or not. I have attended Skills basketball camps (Breakthrough Basketball and Maximum Exposure) and took what I learned and applied it to my practices and games. I was taught that repetition and hard work in practice is what will show in the game.
I play on a 2A public school basketball team, England High School. We currently have over 60 plays and I know each play and every position in the play. I am the player that the coach knows he can put in at any position and I will know what that position is suppose to do in the play that he calls. I listen to my coaches during the game and during practices. I know they have my best interest, as well as the team, at heart. I take all advice that will help me improve in the game of basketball. I always try to keep a positive attitude on and off the court.
I love sports and helping others. I have assisted in coaching of the 3rd & 4th grade girls basketball team as well as the 5th & 6th grade girls basketball team at our local community center. I love to pass on what I have learned to the younger girls and to help encourage them.
Something interesting about me is how I started playing basketball. In the 5th grade, I attended a small christian school that only had basketball as a sport. The high school team (well only team) only had 5 players, so they included me on the high school team as the 6th person in case a player fouled out. I played in just about every game and scored. Usually 3 pointers because I was too small against high school girls to get inside the three point line. I have played high school basketball every year since then, except for my 9th grade year. My 9th grade year is when I moved to a public school and had to play on the junior high team. However even that year I was moved up to the high school team after our season was over.
