Personal Statement
I am a 6'2" post from Colfax, California. I just transferred from an NAIA school in North Dakota to a JC in called Moorpark in southern California to be closer to home. In my first year of college, I achieved a 3.56 GPA. I have taken 32 credits so far and I have also been involved in many activities on campus. Such as the Theodore Roosevelt Leadership Program that focuses on giving back to the community. I am also a part of the Student Athletic Advisory Council also known as SAAC which is a group of athletes selected by the coaching staff on campus to represent their sports. Once my sophomore year of school begins I plan on being involved with a few different clubs on campus.
I have been playing basketball for eight years now, and I have had many accomplishments throughout my career. Throughout high school, I was fortunate enough to be selected for several all-tournament teams, MVP for multiple tournaments, and also MVP for my team my junior and senior year of high school. Most recently I was able to get my first college double double, with 16 points and 16 rebounds. As a freshman I started for 20 out of the 30 games we played in, averaging 7 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game. I also had a total of 18 blocks throughout the season.
Having a good academic reputation is very important to me because school comes first. I am looking for a college where I will be able to excel in basketball and my academics at the same time. After this upcoming year, I would like to get my AA in Liberal Arts and then transfer to a four year where I can graduate with a BA. I have not yet decided what I would like to get my BA in but at the moment I am leaning towards Biology. I would like to be on a team where I would be needed, and I could make an impact on my leadership abilities.
Ever since I started playing basketball it has been a big part of my life, and now I am just hoping that I can find a school that will allow me to enjoy the sport I love playing and get a good education, so I can have a successful future.
