My goals for the future are to have a great 4 years of high school basketball and academics. To have fun and be seen over the summer, and lastly to play division 1 basketball. Everyday I put in the work so I can show my skills on the court. To fulfill the idea of playing d1 basketball in collage would be a dream come true.
From a young age, I always knew basketball was the sport I wanted to continue for as long as I could. There's something about picking up a ball and shooting for hours outside, or going to practice to learn new moves, even conditioning to make me a well rounded player. The team that I am with now is Cal Stars Socal 15U EYBL, the friendships that I have made on this team with stick with me forever. Seeing people at their highs and lows is what brings teams closer together so that we are able to play even better. Being on a team means more than just playing well, but also being there for one another. Caring for your teammates should be the most important thing when you join a team. Win or lose, having fun should also be a top priority. There is never a dull moment with my team and that is why I love playing with them so much.
On the court is where I can show my ability pass, run, finish, and stay calm. I would say my best skills are passing and playing defense. Playing defense to me is even better than scoring, when your locking up a defender, getting steals off the dribble, and getting blocks off hustling. That's the best feeling you can feel in the game. Passing is another one of my favorite skills, knowing you made that great pass so your teammate could finish and get the bucket is amazing. I am a very unselfish player, I'd rather throw an incredible pass to my teammate then shoot up a step back three. My IQ of the game is something I care about a lot. Knowing when to score and when its the right time to pull it out is very important to the game. Being aware on the defensive side of shooters and certain plays so you can disrupt their offense. If you can out smart your opponent the right way, then you have a high chance of playing a better game.
Working hard on the court is just as important as working hard off the court. I take my academics very seriously and most of the time do more so I can secure a good grade. Being satisfied in school makes me feel proud of myself and the time I put into it, same goes for basketball. Accomplishing more in life makes me a better student, friend, player, and overall person.
